Field notes — week of October 12, 2026
What changed in AI-support and AI-localization tooling this week. Every item was checked against its source before it entered this list.
- OpenAI - added native GPT-Live integration with the Decisions API (Oct 15), letting apps act while a user is still speaking or respond to what Live says; the next day it let all API customers create custom voices from a text description for GPT-Live sessions, free to create, and added nine new built-in voices across German, French, Hindi, Japanese and Korean (Oct 16).
- Anthropic - took fast mode for Claude Opus 5.5 out of research preview (Oct 15), removing the access request and the
fast-mode-2026-02-01header requirement, adding a default rate limit on the Start, Build and Scale tiers, and extending support to deployments on Microsoft Foundry; fast mode for Opus 5 and Opus 4.8 still requires the header.
- Anthropic - also opened a beta OpenTelemetry export (Oct 14) for tracing Messages API requests and Claude Managed Agents sessions, with SDK spans in Python, TypeScript, C#, Go, Java, PHP and Ruby, sent to a destination configured in the Claude Console.
- Intercom - launched Workforce Management (Oct 15), a Pro add-on adding forecasting, schedule building and a Team Performance view, and added skill-based phone routing (Oct 16), so inbound calls ring the teammate with the matching skill first.
- Intercom - also added dictation in the Inbox (Oct 14), letting teammates speak replies and notes up to two minutes long before editing and sending, and brand-based SMS numbers (Oct 13), so outbound sends from a brand automatically use that brand's assigned number.
